Government Suppliers Get 40-100 Pct Sales Hike With ePerolehan

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Government suppliers are enjoying brisk sales as a result of ePerolehan, the electronic procurement system developed under the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) e-government flagship application project.
"Some suppliers are enjoying more than 40 percent increase in sales, some even more than 100 percent," according to a statement issued at the ePerolehan Consumer Day here.
The ePerolehan Consumer Day, held at the Ministry of Finance building here, was Monday officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is also Finance Minister.
Dr Mahathir had earlier presented excellent service awards to employees of the Treasury.
The statement said that apart from higher sales, ePerolehan had helped government suppliers run their businesses more effectively and efficiently and had helped to reduce their operating costs.
The statement also said that monthly transaction of ePerolehan had risen to a high of RM12.612 million in September 2003 from RM305,584 in January this year.
At present, 3,500 government agencies are using ePerolehan while the number of suppliers registered with ePerolehan totalled 44,000.
As prescribed under the Treasury circular, government procurement would only be done with suppliers who are registerd with ePerolehan.
