ePerolehan chalks up more success

ePerolehan chalks up more success

The Star, Business - 22 October 2002
Article at The Star Online »

ePerolehan, a leading e-Government flagship application project developed under the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) initiative, successfully utilised the Smidex 2002 exhibition last week to further step up efforts to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to go online.

Judging from the response to the exhibition, Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd, which has been entrusted to develop, implement and manage the system in collaboration with the Finance Ministry, is confident that ePerolehan is on track to meet its objectives of creating an electronic marketplace for both the government and its suppliers to trade with each other.

The government is expected to set a deadline for this in the near future.

Among the proactive steps taken to drive the take-up rate of this new electronic sales channel is the current offer for complimentary data entry services in the electronic catalogue for up to 10 items.

The normal cost of creating an electronic catalogue to be uploaded is RM15 for every item.

A special tele-enablement initiative has been designed to attract ePerolehan suppliers and the response has been overwhelming with more than 500 suppliers submitting 4,500 catalogues in the first two weeks of the campaign.

We are also in the process of expanding our ePerolehan service centre ePShoppe and establishing more ePerolehan service points to support all users, especially those in remote parts of the country, Commerce Dot Com chief executive Datuk Mohd Salleh Madsuki said in a statement.
