Fuel suppliers urged to register with ePerolehan

KUCHING - Fuel suppliers who do not register with ePerolehan will be left behind by the rapid advancement in Information, Technology and Communication (ICT), said State Federal Secretary Datuk Haji Isa bin Kassim. He said ePerolehan system was a step taken by the government to prepare a foundation for the industry to keep up with the global trade liberalisation through eCommerce and to date, 3, 830 companies had registered with Perbendaharaan Sarawak.

He said the electronic system was set up to enable those who had registered with the Ministry of Finance as government suppliers to participate in the governments procurement process.Isa was speaking at the launching of ePerolehan (e-procurement) suppliers registration system at Auditorium P.Ramlee of Radio Television Malaysia here, yesterday.He said the ePerolehan Project was a joint venture between the Ministry of Finance and Commerce Dot. Com Sdn. Bhd on a Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) basis.

"I hope suppliers in the state will register with ePerolehan immediately to enable them to participate in the government procurement for goods and services."

Isa disclosed that the ePerolehan system for Federal agencies in the State, which had been launched, involved the registration of suppliers for government procurement via central contract and direct purchase.According to him, in Peninsular Malaysia, central contract had been used since 6 October 200. Direct purchase module was launched on 10 May 2003 while quotation and tender module was launched on 27 May 2003.Another two types of procurement to be launched would be procurement through tender and quotation, he added. With the full implementation of the system, he said Malaysia would be the first country in the world to conduct procurement electronically.
