Govt depts in Sabah begin using ePerolehanNew Sabah Times, Business - 18 May 2006KOTA KINABALU: Government agencies in Kota Kinabalu and Labuan will begin using the ePerolehan electronic procurement system from May this year. Some 300 staff of 28 federal agencies in Kota Kinabalu and 35 agencies in Labuan are undergoing training from May 15 to 23 in 'Mandatory Handholding' of the system. The training is held by the system's developer Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd (CDC) in cooperation with the Federal State Secretariat, State Treasury and Ministry of Finance. The system was developed in 1999 as part of the government's e-government efforts, and enables suppliers to not only sell their products or services but receive, manage and process orders or payments from Government agencies online. Since its implementation in 2002, it has evolved to become a stable, secure system, according to CDC chief executive officer Datuk Azizan Ayub. "In 2005, a total of 107,000 government orders worth RM1.08 billion were done through ePerolehan by government agencies n the Klang Valley," he said in a statement yesterday. Some 3,200 centres and 115,000 suppliers throughout the country, including 9,789 companies in Sabah and Labuan, are ePerolehan enabled.
