Bumiputera Status Guidelines

Bumiputera Status Application

Bumiputera Status Application is an option provided to all suppliers who are registered with the Ministry of Finance provided the requirements set by BPPK is met. The application is open to all suppliers who wish to declare or update the bumiputera status of their companies.

Terms and Conditions

You may declare your bumiputera status during your registration through ePerolehan. However, if you intend to apply or update the bumiputera status of your company, you may do so if you meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Your company consists of a hundred percent (100%) bumiputera, and that includes the shareholder(s), equity owner(s) and company director(s).
  2. Your company consists 51 percent or more bumiputera. If your company falls into this category, you may also apply for the bumiputera status.

In certain cases, your company may not obtain bumiputera status during the registration with the Ministry of Finance due to failure in meetng the terms and conditions. However, if there are any changes in the percentage of bumiputera in your company (for example; addition of bumiputera employment or company management shifting from non-bumiputera to bumiputera), then your company is considered qualified to apply for bumiputera status.

However, bumiputera status application is only restricted to Contractor company. Consultants are not allowed to apply for bumiputera status.

Application Process

For suppliers who wish to apply for bumiputera status, please go to the ePerolehan website at https://home.eperolehan.com.my/en/default.aspx

The following screen will appear.



Click at the menu bar 'Supplier/Consultant Registration'.



At the supplier's Login page, please refer to CONTRACTOR APPLICATION and click the Bumiputera Status Application link.



After clicking Bumiputera Status Application, your screen will display the bumiputera status application form to be filled. At no. 1, please create a new Login ID, followed by a new Password. Please take note that each field marked with an asterisk (*) SHOULD NOT be left empty. After keying in all the required information, click Submit.



Your company's general information will be displayed on the screen. Please make sure that the information is correct and updated. Next, click Proceed to proceed with your bumiputera status application.



Next, you will be directed to the screen above. Your company's summary  information such as company name, company registration number, MOF registration expiry date and MOF registration number will be displayed on the top panel.

Please take note of the instruction in red : Please make sure that you have completely updated all information. If this is not done, your application will be rejected. Next, click at the Additional Financial Information link.



You will be taken to the above screen. No. 1 will display the representative names from your company. Be sure the representative details are updated accordingly, then select your company's Financial Manager.

Next, please fill in the, KWSP (EPF) details. After filling in all necessary fields (be sure to complete the fields marked with an asterisk (*)) please click Next Section to proceed with the next step.



You will be taken to the above screen. Please read and print this list for future reference. This is the list of forms and documents to be sent to the Ministry of Finance for the processing of bumiputera status application.

After printing and making sure that all documents required have been prepared, please click Main and you will return to the screen below. .



In the field provided, please update any changes to the company profile. Next, click the Declaration button. The Acknowledgement screen will be displayed to indicate that your application has been submitted successfully to BPPK.

After completing the application, be sure to prepare the supporting documents as listed earlier. Please ensure that you send all the requested supporting documents complete with the printed checklist to ensure a prompt approval process.

Checking Your Application Status

You may check your application status by login into our ePerolehan website using the login ID and password created earlier.

Application Approval Duration

As mentioned earlier, the duration of the bumiputera status application depends on a number of factors. If your supporting documents are complete and arrive safely at the Ministry of Finance processing department, the approval process may be quick. However, should there be any problems in the processing of your application or delay in the delivery of your supporting documents, the approval may take longer. Please ensure that the address is written correctly to avoid any difficulties in delivery.

Reminder:
You are advised to send your supporting documents to the Ministry of Finance through a registered post. This may avoid possible lost of delivery. If you use a registered post, you may check the current status of your delivery with the post office. Please ensure that your delivery is guaranteed and safe, for the Ministry of Finance will not be responsible for any delivery failure.

Time to Apply For Bumiputera Status

If you have registered as a supplier with the Ministry of Finance, you may apply for a bumiputera status as soon as you obtain the Contractor Registration Certificate. The certificate contains MOF registration number that starts with 357, followed by 8 digit numbers (example: 357-XXXXXXXX), registration expiry date and registration verification.

Please be informed that any application (bumiputera status / additional category / others) are not permitted three (3) months before your registration expiry date with the Ministry of Finance. You are required to renew your registration prior to any other applications.

Request for Update From Bumiputera to Non-Bumiputera Status

Should there be a shift in the company's ownership, from bumiputera to non-bumiputera, you can make a written request to the Ministry of Finance for approval. As soon as your request is approved, you will receive a letter from the ministry that verifies the shift.
